Questions and Answers

What is your biggest fear going into this experience?
There are a few fears I have about going to Nicaragua, but my biggest fear is connecting to the kids and having to leave them. Most likely I will not see them again and I think it will be very hard for me to leave them. They will change my life, but will I change their life too and have a impact on them like they will on me.

What do you think will be the most difficult going into this experience?
I think that the most difficult thing going into this experience will be seeing how these kids live compared to us. We have the rich life compared to them.  These kids don't get to have the same experiences as we get to have. This will be hard to see how they live, but they seem like they enjoy their life. This experience will also be work filled and may have it's challenges here and there. I will have to work at the best of my abilities and do the best I can do.

In what ways do you think you will change?
I will change in many ways but the biggest way I think I will change is being less greedy. When I see what they have compared to me it will make me see how much I have and I hope to be more grateful. I will also change by being a better person and helping out others. The whole time I am in Nicaragua I will be helping people and it will bring me a warm feeling inside. I may become less shy by talking to all the kids, communicating with the teachers and talking to the peers I will be working with.

Nicaragua

Hi, I am Addison Nothnagel. I created this blog to share my experience in Nicaragua. I applied to go with The Children's Global Alliance because I love working with children and this sounded like a very enriching experience that would have a big impact on my life.

I was picked to go to Nicaragua and will be working at Escuela Especial Sor Maria Romero, a school with 87 children with special needs. We will be assisting in classrooms, cleaning the school, and feeding the children. We will also provide medical care, supplies, clothing and school supplies.

A little bit about me is that I am a 7th grade student at Eagle Valley Middle School and I am a gymnast at Vail gymnastics. I also have a twin sister who is also participating in this trip as well. Please take a look at my other posts later on.
